Involving Service Users in Probation

Involving Service Users in Probation

This consultation with service users of Leicestershire & Rutland Probation Trust was a collaborative venture between User Voice and the International School for Communities, Rights and Inclusion at the University of Central Lancashire.

The aim was to gain insight about the effectiveness of Probation services from those that use them and provide a foundation for the future involvement of offenders and ex-offenders in Probation.

User Voice was the lead organisation and ISCRI were employed to advise on the research components of the consultation. This represented a shift from the norm in that it redressed the power dynamic in favour of the service user rather than the researcher.

Data was collected from 156 individuals via the completion of questionnaires in one-to-one interviews as well as discussion groups and a seminar.
