HMYOI Aylesbury Prison Council

HMYOI Aylesbury Prison Council

User Voice’s first Prison Council Elections at HMYOI Aylesbury took place on 30 March 2012, where a total of 69% of staff and prisoners voted.

The elections had the highest involvement of prisoners within the User Voice prison council projects so far; 75% of prisoners took part and voted.

This project poses challenges that differ from our other Prison Councils because Aylesbury is a Young Offender Institution where the population is aged from 17 to 21.

The 15 seats on the Council were allocated amongst the parties as follows:

  • Lifestyle Party – 7 seats
  • Inter-Relations Party – 5 seats
  • Training Party – 3 seats
