User Voice partnered with Sheffield Hallam University to examine the transformation of parole hearings in England and Wales following their shift to remote delivery.
Decisions about parole are a key part of an effective Justice system. When Parole hearings moved online as a result of Covid, User Voice partnered with Sheffield Hallam University researchers to help scrutinise what the impacts of this change are currently on the prison system and crucially those affected by it.
Through our partnership with the authors of this study, Jake Phillips, David Peplow, Charlotte Oliver, and Christopher Purnell, User Voice helped centre lived experience through interviews with current and former prisoners to examine how remote hearings reshape power, voice and accountability.
