Simon Scott has worked in criminal justice for the past ten years, including for Samaritans & Koestler. For the 16 years prior to this he was in custody where, after he spent a few years dealing with his substance misuse issues, he took advantage of Open University opportunities, read a lot of books and ran around exercise yards. He is completing his PhD at Nottingham Trent University, examining the experiences of men serving life sentences in the community following release from prison, and those of their family members and friends.
