Lived experience is the core of what we do. It’s not a token it’s a benefit. 85% of our team have lived experience. That means they’ve been in prison or on probation. That’s from our founder and CEO, through our SLT and across our engagement team. That’s because experience is valued, useful and necessary for the work we do.
Most of our team are engagers, working in prisons and probation services across England and Wales. We have a head office in central London.
““I’ve got lived experience and now I’ve got learned experience
The person you see now isn’t the same person who went to prison or who came out. I’m at that point where I don’t want my story to be where I start conversations and now that I’ve worked for User Voice, I’m moving on with more than I had. I’ve got lived experience and now I’ve got learned experience” User Voice ex-team member”
If you’ve got lived experience or not we have lots of volunteering opportunities, just get in touch!

“I wanted to combat the ‘you’re a wrongun’ attitude. The more information we can give, the more eloquent we are, the more grounded our message, the better we can challenge the perception that people have of us” User Voice council member
